I am a writer, theatre director and arts organizer.

Artistic work, for me, is a process of exploring the fundamental experience of existence — an expression of the shifting layers, energies, and forces that hover above the ground of lived and inhabited being.

My background is in the performing arts. For sixteen years, I led Myllyteatteri, which I founded, creating physical-visual, poetic theatre in my productions. I have written and directed numerous works, some of which have received international recognition and awards. They have been performed in my home country Finland as well as abroad, among which Scotland, Italy, Poland, and Portugal.

MYLLYTEATTERI was born from a vision of creating multilayered stage music. I worked as the group’s artistic director and director from 2003 to 2018.

Alongside my literary work, I explore ways in which literature can merge with performative interventions in unexpected locations.

My desire to create total works of art has also led me to organize larger performance concepts such as Tragedy Competitions and the Divina Commedia Project.

I have written seven plays and performance scripts, as well as poetry, a radio play, and an opera libretto. Currently, I am working on a novel and a poetry collection. List of texts

Activism

We have the right to culture, to art, to expression. Without them, we would not be human beings.

Aktivismi

“Form is a purposeful striving and an intuitive groping toward a goal that can only be sensed.”
