Saari - The Island

SAARI – THE ISLAND is a performance about the human mind, its mysteries and forces. Two strangers find themselves — and each other — on an island in the middle of the ocean, embarking on a courageous journey into the depths of their solitude.

Music composed by Johanna Juhola, together with spatial relationships, movement, and speech, forms a choreographic whole structured through the dramaturgy of Teresa of Ávila’s Interior Castle.

“The Island, performed by a multidisciplinary ensemble from different parts of the world, creates a unique atmosphere — at once local and universal, archaic and contemporary.”

“…the most enigmatic production at this year’s Fringe… The Island has a surprising amount to say about solitude, companionship, and what it means to be human.”Scotsman
